Alison Jackson keeps green jersey

The peloton left Denmark behind and rode the second stage in Sweden today. Alison Jackson was riding in the green jersey and defended that jersey with success despite a crash.

With the second stage the peloton got to the second country of this Tour of Scandinavia. The stage went from Orust to Strömstad over 153,8 kilometres. Before the stage there were speculations about possible echelons, but the peloton got mainly tailwind which made it a fast stage. Several riders tried to get away, but the peloton reeled in all riders. Alison Jackson was focused on the intermediate sprints to keep her green jersey. Jackson took enough points to ride another in green tomorrow.

In the final kilometres Jackson and two teammates were caught in a crash. Luckily all three riders aren`t injured and reached the finish. “It was a fast stage today with that tailwind. We hoped for some echelons, but the wind direction wasn`t good enough. It was fun riding in the green jersey, a bonus for me and the team. Our goal remains to go for a stage win, we still have four days left to fight for that”, Jackson told after the stage.

The stage was won by Marianne Vos, which strengthened her lead in the GC. Tereza Neumanova was the first Liv Racing Xstra rider at the finish in a 12th place.
