Barbieri 8th in final stage RideLondon Classique

The third and final stage of the RideLondon Classique ended in the expected bunch sprint. Liv Racing TeqFind was prominent at the front of the peloton and guided Rachele Barbieri to the sprint.

Eight laps downtown London were waiting for the riders Sunday afternoon. Silke Smulders didn`t take the start after her hard crash of yesterday. The final stage had a bunch sprint written all over it. Some riders tried to avoid it, but without any success. Liv Racing TeqFind was one of the teams who was leading the pack. In the final kilometres they brought Rachele Barbieri to the front, so the Italian could show her fast legs.

In the final metres it was Charlotte Kool who took the stage win. Barbieri got a little boxed in and had to be satisfied with an eight position. “The team was amazing today. We were very strong and did a perfect stage. I waited a little bit too long to launch my sprint and got a little boxed in, lost some speed and couldn`t go for the podium. I feel sorry that I couldn`t reward the girls for all the hard work. However this gives me a lot of motivation to train hard for the next races and then hopefully finish off the hard work which the girls and staff always do for me”, said Barbieri after the race.
