The new cycling season kicks off for Liv Racing this Saturday with the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The team will rely on Jeanne Korevaar, Evy Kuijpers, Sofia Bertizzolo, Valerie Demey, Lotte Kopecky and Soraya Paladin for the Belgian classic.
“The course has a very difficult middle section up to the Vossenhol, which includes the Haaghoek, Leberg and Molenberg. We will have to be attentive there in order to be able to play a significant role in the run-up to the final, with the Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg. That scenario would be in our favour, so we will have to race openly and boldly”, says sports director Lars Boom.
Strong TEAM
“We have a strong block with Liv Racing. Many eyes will, of course, be on Lotte Kopecky. She can rely on strong teammates, who can have a more than decent result themselves. Jeanne Korevaar, for example, achieves a consistently high level in the Omloop year after year. I am curious what she and our other riders will show.”
Ambition
Boom, who is on the eve of his first performance as a sports director, travels with confidence to the starting place in Ghent. “Based on what I saw and heard in the preparation, I expect that we are strong and capable to achieve a lot. The atmosphere is sublime. We have had excellent trainings and talked a lot with each other, expressing ambition and confidence at every occasion; everyone is looking forward to racing.”
