The final stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour was animated by an early breakaway. The peloton came too late to reel them in. Eva Buurman and Thalita de Jong sprinted to a top-10 result.
The fourth and final stage of the Baloise Ladies Tour took place in and around Deinze. An early breakaway of five riders animated the stage. It seemed like the peloton was in control, but the leaders kept some energy for the final kilometres and made it a thrilling final. Eventually the peloton came a few metres short. The stage win went to Jelena Eric.
In the sprint of the peloton Eva Buurman finished 8th, Thalita de Jong crossed the line as tenth. The overall win went to Lucinda Brand. Jeanne Korevaar was the first Liv Racing TeqFind rider in the final GC at a 19th place.
“I have a good feeling about this race. I was glad to be able to show myself in the finale of several stages. In the final stage it wasn`t up to us to close the gap with the escapees. It was too bad we couldn`t sprint for the win anymore. Still I am satisfied about my race”, Buurman told.
