De Jong: “I am really looking forward to race in Veenendaal-Veenendaal”

Liv Racing TeqFind is not only racing in Spain these days, but also makes its return on home soil. Friday the team will start in Veenendaal-Veenendaal.

After the cancellation of the Women`s Tour the team looked for alternative races to fill the gap on the calendar. That`s why two Dutch one day races Veenendaal-Veenendaal and Omloop der Kempen were added to the schedule. Veenendaal-Veenendaal for women was held for the first time in 2018. Last year the team took a podium spot with Rachele Barbieri. This year`s race goes over 133,6 kilometres, divided into four laps.

Liv Racing TeqFind brings a strong team to the start in Veenendaal. Rachele Barbieri, Thalita de Jong, Jeanne Korevaar, Katia Ragusa, Silke Smulders and Sabrina Stultiens will try to gain a good result in this one day race.

For De Jong it will be her first race since Nokere Koerse, where she had to abandon after a crash. “I am really looking forward to race again. My spring campaign was over before it even really started. I crashed in Nokere and afterwards I was ill. It took some time to recover from that and I had to shift  my plans. The last few weeks I have done some really good training and I feel fit again now. Last weekend I rode a kermesse, which went quite good. Now it is time get back with the team and start racing again. I am really looking forward to that. We will start with a strong versatile team, which has to be capable to do a good race in every scenario. Of course I am a little bit anxious with how things will go, but for sure I will give my best”, De Jong said.
