It feels like the season has just started, but in fact the final race of the spring classics campaign is already there. Sunday the curtain closes with Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
Again an early start for the peloton as the riders will take off at 8h35 Sunday morning. The race over 142,8 kilometres contains 9 hills. The first one is the Côte de Mont-le-Soie after 51,7 kilometres. The Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons is the final one at 13 kilometres from the finish and is the perfect place to launch a decisive attack.
After her fourth place in the Fleche Wallone Femmes Mavi Garcia will again be on the hunt for a good result in ‘La Doyenne’. The Spanish champion will be supported by Caroline Andersson, Valerie Demey, Jeanne Korevaar, Sabrina Stultiens and Quinty Ton.
Ton crashed hard during the Fleche Wallone, but is recovered to start in Liege-Bastogne-Liege. The Dutch rider is looking for a way to close her strong spring campaign with a good race. “This spring went by so fast. I am really looking forward to this race. Unfortunately I crashed during the Fleche Wallone, but the legs still feel good. Of course Mavi will be our leader again and we will support her in every way we can. After Liege our spring classic campaign is over. I really surprised myself with the seventh place in the Omloop. In the other races I also had some good legs. I hope to finish this spring with a strong race as well.”
