Good finish of Tour de France Femmes despite setback

The second edition of the Tour de France Femmes ended with an individual time trial over 22,2 kilometres in Pau. Despite a setback Liv Racing TeqFind finished the race with a good performance.

Before the time trial Liv Racing TeqFind was confronted with a huge disappointment. Spanish champion Mavi Garcia felt ill and couldn`t take the start today. “It is too bad all the hard work of the girls wasn`t rewarded by a good overall result of Mavi. We think Mavi carried the illness with her for some days and it declares her performance on the Tourmalet as well”, said sports director Wim Stroetinga.

“However it was very good to see our riders and staff kept the motivation to finish the Tour de France Femmes on a high note. The girls delivered a good time trial and we can be satisfied with that. Overall we didn`t take the results we came for and of course that is disappointing. We still have some races to go this season and aim for some good results”, continued Stroetinga.

Thalita de Jong was the best Liv Racing TeqFind rider of the day in a 19th place, almost 2 minutes behind stage winner Marlen Reusser. “I think I can be satisfied with my time trial. I am no real specialist in this discipline, but it went well today and also in the Baloise Tour two weeks ago. It was a nice parcourse, a combination of technical parts and parts for the real powerhouses. There was also a small climb and the final part went up as well. Overall it was a good Tour de France Femmes for me. The first days were hard, but from stage four it went better and better”, said De Jong.
