Good start in Burgos

Liv Racing TeqFind was thick in the action during the opening stage of the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas with a late attack of Valerie Demey and a top-10 result of Tereza Neumanova.

The peloton started the day in Quintanaortuño for the first stage over 115,6 kilometres to Medina de Pomar. The Alto La Varga was halfway the stage the only classified climb of the day. After a lonely escapee was caught with 30 kilometres to go it lasted till 12 kilometres from the line until another group escaped. Valerie Demey and three other riders managed to build up a 15 second lead. The gap was still 10 seconds with three kilometres to go, but in the second last kilometre the peloton caught Demey and her companions.

In the bunch sprint it was Lorena Wiebes who took the stage win. Tereza Neumanova finish as seventh, her second top-10 result of this season. The Czech champion was satisfied after the race. “The competition is really fierce in this race. It was my first bunch sprint in a while, so I am satisfied with my performance and result. The team was really strong today. It was a tricky stage with crucial points in windy sections, but my teammates protect me really well. We are looking forward to the next days and will hunt for other good results.”
