Korevaar: “It was a hard, but beautiful race”

Dwars door het Hageland became a very hard race. Not only because the cobbles, gravel and climbs, but also the high temperatures. Liv Racing TeqFind was in the front and with half of the team in the decisive breakaway.

The peloton was nervous after the start and despite several attempts no riders could take a significant advantage. After a few gravel zones the peloton became smaller and smaller. Eventually a group of 35 riders formed the peloton. Liv Racing TeqFind was represented by Thalita de Jong, Silke Smulders and Jeanne Korevaar.

“Unfortunately Thalita dropped after a flat tire. I felt strong all day, but in the final lap it became hard for me as well. Silke and I tried to anticipate before the final climb, but I was on my limit. On the way to the finish I emptied the tank a last time, there was nothing left anymore. I am satisfied with my progression the last weeks, but I would liked to take a better result today. Still it was a hard, but beautiful race”, Koreveaar (17th) commented after the race.
