The last spring classic of the season in Flanders contained 24 hills, with the rain making the race even harder.
The course of the Brabantse Pijl brought up memories to the World Championships of last year, especially for Alison Jackson who finished sixth in that race. Today the Canadian champion made her first appearance in the peloton after her crash in Gent-Wevelgem a couple of weeks ago. She did some great efforts for Marta Jaskulska, who carried the flag for Liv Racing Xstra in the finale.
“There were a lot of attacks today. I tried to be in the front group the whole day. After some good work of Alison I launched an attack on the cobbles climb. I didn`t get much advantage, so I got reeled in again quickly. In the last lap my legs were empty and I had to let go the first group. However I am satisfied with how I raced today, because I was really part of the race and gave 100%”, Jaskulska – who finished 21st – told about her race.
