Neumanova sprints to sixth place in UAE Tour opener

The first stage in the inaugural UAE Tour was very hectic. The stage ended in a bunch sprint. Czech champion Tereza Neumanova performed well in that sprint after some great team work.

The big wait was finally over Thursday morning. The opening stage of the UAE Tour meant the start of the 2023 season for Liv Racing TeqFind. The stage was very nervous with the crosswinds sections, but eventually an almost complete peloton sprinted for the stage win in Dubai Harbour.

Liv Racing TeqFind did a fine job guiding Neumanova to the front. The Czech Champion put down a strong sprint and finished in sixth place. “We raced very good together. In the final we helped each other. I was too bad I was involved in the crash at 3 or 4 km from the finish. Luckily Thalita brought me back to the peloton. I was still able to do a good sprint. Everybody worked hard and did their best job. It is a really nice result on the first race day. It gives a lot of confidence for the next days”, Neumanova told after the stage.

Her words were echoed by sports director Wim Stroetinga. “The team performed really well. It was really hectic and stress full today. The peloton was nervous due to the wind. In the sprint Tereza was there after some really good team work. So it is a good start of the season. Tomorrow we will try again.”
