After the Belgian Openingweekend the next classic race is already there with Le Samyn on Tuesday. Liv Racing Xstra has good memories to this race.
Last year Le Samyn was a big success for our team with Lotte Kopecky winning the race. This year our team will be at the start line with 5 riders: Eva Buurman, Rachele Barbieri, Valerie Demey, Amber van der Hulst and Silke Smulders. The parcours is similar to last year with a large starting loop followed by several local laps. In every lap the riders have to get over the cobbled climbs of Côte de la Roquette and Côte de Nonettes. Also some cobblestone sections are waiting for the riders. Enough ingredients to make it a hard race.
Last weekend the team showed a good team performance in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday. One day later Demey finished 8th in the Omloop van het Hageland. “It will be a hard race tomorrow. We have to stay together as a team and stay focused. In the final we will see how many of our riders will be there in the front and if our sprinters will be there. If that is the case, we will go for a sprint. If not, we will try to get a good result in an other way”, sports director Wim Stroetinga said.
