Liv Racing TeqFind performed well during the Ronde van Vlaanderen. Marta Jaskulska and Quinty Ton were in a big chase group battling for a top-15 result.
Before the start Liv Racing TeqFind unfortunately lost a rider. An ill Valerie Demey couldn`t take the start, so the team started with five riders in Oudenaarde. The quintet was attentive in the first part of the race and was in the front of the peloton all the time. On the Koppenberg the race became chaotic. In the front of the peloton the riders had to put a foot to the ground, so all the peloton had to stop, unclick and walk up the climb for a part.
Four riders took advantage and established a large gap. Behind the leading group some smaller groups tried to organize the chase. Quinty Ton and Marta Jaskulska were in one of those groups and tried to push the tempo to close the gap with the groups in front of them. Unfortunately other riders didn`t want to co-operate with the Liv Racing TeqFind riders, which meant they battled for a place between the 10th and 15th place.
“We rode a good race with the team in the first part of the race. After the Koppenberg I was in a chase group with Marta. We really tried to bridge the gap with the group in front of us, but the other riders simply didn`t want to ride with us. That was too bad, because we were battling for a nice result. In the second last kilometre a group came back from behind, so we had to sprint with a bigger group and we didn`t have the legs anymore to finish in the top-20. Still I am satisfied about the way we raced as team and how I raced personally, but unfortunately it is not rewarded with a good result this time. We will try again next time!”, Ton commented after the race.
