Quinty Ton animates final stage Tour de Romandie Feminin

The third stage of the Tour de Romandie Feminin was not only the final stage of this stage race, but also the final race of Liv Racing Xstra in the season 2022. Quinty Ton made sure she closed the season on a high note.

The peloton started on in Fribourg for the final assignment of the season. The finish was 147,6 kilometres later in Geneve. Quinty Ton was one of the first attackers in the stage, but was caught quickly. Also Eva Buurman tried her luck, but was reeled in too. Ton attacked again some kilometres later and was accompanied by Ella Harris. The leading duo took a six minute lead and forced the peloton to chase. While the kilometres ticked by, the gap got smaller. Still it lasted till the second last kilometre before Ton and Harris were caught.

“It was the goal to make it aggressive final stage. My personal goal was to show myself in the breakaway this race and I think that worked out well today. We got a large gap, but unfortunately we were caught at 1,5 kilometres from the line. That was hard, but now a few hours after the race I can be satisfied with my ride. Now it is time for the off season, but that won`t last long for me. In about two weeks I will ride my first speed skating marathon. So I will put my bike aside for a while and focus on the speed skating, the condition is already there however. In November I will ride some marathons as well. I will finish my speed skating season with the nationals in January. From then the focus will be back on the bike”, Ton told after the race.

The stage ended in a sprint of a reduced bunch, which was won by Marta Lach. Jeanne Korevaar finished just outside the top-10 in 14th place, Silke Smulders (18th) and Ton (27th) were the other Liv Racing Xstra riders in the first peloton.
