Without the wind it became a rather quiet third edition of the Scheldeprijs. Rachele Barbieri was in the mix for a podium spot.
For one time a Belgian classic race wasn`t determined by rain or crosswinds. The peloton enjoyed a calm day during the Scheldeprijs. With 60 kilometres to go a group of 7 riders took off and animated the race until the final local lap. The predicted bunch sprint was inevitable on the Curchilllaan in Schoten.
Rachele Barbieri was in the front of the peloton to carry the flag for Liv Racing TeqFind. After a strong sprint the Italian finished just beside the podium in a fourth place. “Finally a good result! I was feeling really well all day and my team mates protected me well. The final was a little bit hectic and I tried to wait as long as possible to launch my sprint. It is too bad I just miss the podium spot, but this result is an extra motivation for me and the team to keep trying. We are on the right track and hopefully off for some more good results.”
