Suisse: Jaskulska tenth in opening stage

The first stage of the Tour de Suisse Women was a short, but punchy one. Marta Jaskulska did well and battled for the stage win in the final kilometres.

One rider animated a big part of the first stage. After a long chase the lonely escapee was caught at three kilometres from the finish. The last kilometres were very exciting, with Marta Jaskulska being at the front of the peloton the whole time. In the final kilometre there were some little splits in the bunch. Blanka Vas took the stage win, Jaskulska finished in a tenth place.

“It was a short, but hard stage. We tried to go with the attacks in the first kilometres and were really attentive with the team. In the final kilometre I was just behind the first group, but I am satisfied with my top-10 result. My first one on this level of racing. Tomorrow I would like to deliver a good time trial. I really like the discipline. However it will be my first time trial of the season I will give my best. It is also a good test for the national championships, where I want to ride a good time trial as well”, Jaskulska commented after the stage.
